Our client, Martu Waru Pty Ltd, is a proudly Indigenous-led Western Australian company providing building, construction, maintenance, civil, fabrication and electrical services across metropolitan, regional and remote Western Australia.
Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Roof Plumber to join their team in Port Hedland, Western Australia.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing roofing, rainwater management and associated plumbing systems across construction, maintenance and building projects in the Pilbara and regional Western Australia. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail and a commitment to quality, safety and compliant installation practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Interpret roofing plans, plumbing drawings and specifications to determine project requirements, materials, measurements and installation methods.
• Measure, mark and prepare roofing materials and components to meet project specifications.
• Fabricate and install metal roofing, roof sheeting, flashings, gutters, downpipes and other rainwater goods.
• Install and connect roof drainage systems to ensure effective collection and disposal of rainwater.
• Install and maintain hot and cold water pipework and associated equipment where required.
• Install water-based fire protection components, including hydrants, hose reels and sprinkler systems where required.
• Install sanitary plumbing, water supply pipework, discharge lines and associated fixtures where required.
• Fabricate and install soil, waste and vent stacks and associated pipework.
• Install below-ground drainage systems and provide appropriate support and protection for underground pipework where required.
• Assemble and install mechanical services and associated equipment, including air handling and conditioning systems and small-bore heating services where applicable.
• Install sewerage and effluent pumping equipment and associated disposal systems where required.
• Install, maintain and repair gas mains, gas pipework downstream of the billing meter, gas appliances and associated equipment where appropriately licensed.
• Inspect, test and troubleshoot roofing, drainage and plumbing systems and rectify defects or leaks.
• Carry out repairs, maintenance and replacement works to existing roofing, gutters, flashings, downpipes and associated systems.
• Safely use hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment and other specialist roofing and plumbing equipment.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, tradespeople, clients and other project personnel.
• Complete required job documentation and maintain accurate work records.
• Ensure all work is undertaken safely, efficiently and in accordance with relevant standards, specifications and workplace procedures.
Essential Requirements
• Certificate III in Roof Plumbing (CPC32620) or equivalent relevant trade qualification.
• Current Roof Plumbing Registration/Licence recognised in Western Australia.
• At least three years of relevant roof plumbing experience.
• Current Construction White Card.
• Current Australian Driver's Licence, with Manual preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in metal roofing, gutters, downpipes, flashings and rainwater drainage systems.
• Ability to interpret roofing plans, plumbing drawings and technical specifications.
• Ability to safely operate roofing and plumbing tools, equipment and machinery.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening.
• National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
• Working at Heights certification.
• Confined Space certification.
• Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Licence.
• First Aid Certificate.
• Gasfitting Licence and relevant gas installation experience.
• HR Driver's Licence.
• Experience with commercial and industrial roofing projects.
• Previous experience working on mining, government, commercial or remote construction projects.
This position is open to Australian citizens, permanent residents and candidates who are currently onshore in Australia with valid work rights.
