Our client, Martu Waru Pty Ltd, is a proudly Indigenous-led Western Australian company providing building, construction, maintenance, civil, fabrication and electrical services across metropolitan, regional and remote Western Australia.

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Carpenter to join their team in Port Hedland, Western Australia.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a range of carpentry, construction and maintenance activities across the Pilbara and regional Western Australia. The role requires a strong focus on quality workmanship, safety, efficiency and compliance with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret building plans, technical drawings and specifications to determine required materials, dimensions and appropriate construction or installation methods.

• Select, measure and order suitable timber and other construction materials and prepare layouts for construction.

• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and secure timber and other materials using appropriate tools and equipment.

• Construct and erect timber frameworks, prefabricated or panelised systems and roof structures.

• Install sub-flooring, floorboards and other structural components, ensuring structures are accurately aligned, level and true.

• Install fascia, roof sheathing, external wall cladding, doors, windows and associated frames.

• Assemble prepared timber components and fittings ready for installation.

• Measure, cut and form timber joints to achieve accurate and durable construction.

• Construct and install concrete formwork where required.

• Carry out repairs, alterations and maintenance to existing structures, fittings and fixtures.

• Work with a range of materials, including timber, plastic laminates, perspex and metals where required.

• Complete general carpentry, construction, refurbishment, renovation and maintenance works.

• Work collaboratively with supervisors, tradespeople, clients and other project personnel.

• Complete required job documentation and maintain accurate work records.

• Ensure all work is undertaken safely, efficiently and in accordance with relevant standards, specifications and workplace procedures.

Essential Requirements

• AQF Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent relevant trade qualification.

• At least three years of relevant carpentry experience.

• Current Construction White Card.

• Current Australian Driver's Licence, with Manual preferred.

• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening.

• National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one.

• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

• Working at Heights certification.

• Confined Space certification.

• Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Licence.

• First Aid Certificate.

• HR Driver's Licence.

• Previous experience working on mining, government, commercial or remote construction projects.
