Hours: 38–40 hours per week
Salary: $65,000 – $75,000 per annum plus superannuation,depending on experience
About the Role
The Taste of Italy is seeking an experienced Cook specialising inItalian cuisine to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This role requires hands-on preparation and cooking oftraditional Italian dishes using authentic recipes, ingredientsand cooking methods. The successful candidate will beresponsible for preparing high-quality Italian food, maintainingkitchen standards, supporting daily kitchen operations andassisting with menu planning.
Key Responsibilities
• Examine ingredients and foodstuffs to ensure quality andfreshness
• Prepare, cook and season traditional Italian dishes, includingpizza, lasagna, arancini, schiacciata, panzerotti, pasta anddesserts
• Follow authentic Italian recipes, preparation techniques andcooking methods
• Operate and regulate ovens, grills, fryers and pizza ovens atcorrect temperatures
• Portion, plate and present food for service
• Store and handle food in temperature-controlled facilities inaccordance with food safety standards
• Prepare food to meet dietary requirements and customerrequests
• Contribute to menu planning and estimating foodrequirements
• Train and guide junior kitchen staff and apprentices in traditional Italian cooking methods
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and food safety standards in allfood preparation areas
• Work cooperatively with kitchen and front-of-house staff toensure efficient service
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate must have:
• Strong knowledge of Italian cuisine and traditional Italiancooking methods
• Experience preparing and cooking Italian dishes in acommercial kitchen environment
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy hospitalityenvironment
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanlinessrequirements
• Ability to follow recipes, portion control standards and kitchen procedures
