About the Role:

Consultant Psychiatrists who want their clinical work to mean something beyond the appointment will find genuine purpose within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN). This ongoing, full-time role sits across both Mental Health Inpatient Rehabilitation, and North East Community mental health, giving you a rare breadth of clinical scope within a single, well-connected service.

Your Clinical Scope

Based at Modbury, you will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment, and leadership across the Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit and the broader Modbury Adult Community Mental Health Service. Your key responsibilities include:

Delivering consultant-level psychiatric care to adults with complex and enduring mental illness across rehabilitation and community settings

Leading multidisciplinary team discussions, care planning, and clinical governance within the Modbury Adult Service

Providing supervision and professional support to registrars, junior medical staff, and allied health clinicians

Contributing to service improvement, quality activities, and NALHN's broader mental health strategy

What You Bring

Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or equivalent specialist recognition

Registration with AHPRA with no conditions that would limit practice in a public mental health setting

Demonstrated experience in rehabilitation psychiatry and-or community mental health with adults

Proven ability to lead and work within complex multidisciplinary teams

Strong understanding of recovery-oriented frameworks as applied within SA Health's mental health service model

Commitment to clinical supervision and the development of junior medical staff

To be eligible for this position, you must have a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.

The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as professional development. The TIRP is subject to Private Practice agreements, as well as participation in the Consultant on Call roster.
