Windy Hills Farm (NSW) Pty Ltd is looking for a full-time Vegetable Grower who has Farming/Protected Cropping/Greenhouse/ Herb/ Salad Leaf experience.

This role is technically based and has been created to focus on the growth and production of quality leafy produce. To be the keen eye engaged to ensure quality stock is available on farm and most importantly to our customers who deserve a quality Australian grown product.

Reporting to the Director this role is tasked with managing the operational efficiencies and horticultural best practice requirements to maintain plant quality and improve the production of seedlings, leafy greens and niche categories to ultimately reduce waste on farm and keep a high quality product. Majority of time will be divided between Growing, Stock Control, People Management and Quality Assurance:

Example of key responsibilities:

The successful applicant will demonstrate these skills and attributes:

· Provide technical knowledge with company clients and to internal staff

· Oversee all hydroponic growing matters including plant nutrition, chemical applications, fertigation, planting/transplanting, growing, climate management and environmental controls and calibration of hydroponic farming equipment

· IPM – Monitor crop health and production including pest and disease management strategies

· Staff management – leadership through positive actions and examples

· Maintain the high standard of onsite cleanliness and general site maintenance

· Maintain HARPPS/Fair Farms accreditation duties

· Update AEM greenhouse technology

· Manage NFT hydroponic systems

· Develop and monitor growing standards with the management team

Requirements:

· Must have herb, lettuce, edible flower experience, technically competent

· A minimum of 5 years proven background in farming, nursery, horticultural operations or protected cropping

· Relevant tertiary qualifications in agriculture or horticulture

· Excellent computer reporting skills

· NFT hydroponic growing experience

· A good command of English language, spoken and written

· Attention to detail but with a flexible mentality

· Australian resident preferred

The ideal candidate is an organised persona with confidence in their growing abilities, a great understanding for the health of plants and experienced in advising a highly productive and enthusiastic team of farm managers, crop workers and associated staff. Salary negotiable - depending on experience.
