Small Government Agency Seeking EL1 Assistant Director, Security & Property with NV1 Clearance Your new company
This Federal Government agency plays a critical role in supporting the sustainable management of one of Australia's most significant natural resources. The organisation works across multiple jurisdictions and communities to deliver effective water resource planning, environmental outcomes and regional engagement.
Based in Canberra, Adelaide or one of their regional offices, they are seeking an EL1 Assistant Director, Security and Property Services to join their team on a long-term labour hire contract.
Your new role
As the EL1 Assistant Director, Property and Security, you will be responsible for leading the agency's security and property services functions. This role will see you fulfil the responsibilities of Agency Security Advisor while overseeing property services, facilities management, leasing, contracts, fit-outs and reception services across a geographically dispersed workforce.
Working under limited direction, you will provide strategic advice, manage complex work programs and contribute to policy, governance, reporting and operational delivery across security and property services.
Key responsibilities
Oversee protective security, including clearances, screening, advice, training, audits and assurance.
Prepare security threat material and conduct risk assessments.
Advise the Security Governance Committee and support senior reporting.
Oversee property, facilities, projects and performance in line with government requirements.
Manage leases, contracts, fit-outs, change requests and related policies.
Supervise reception staff and support day-to-day service delivery.
Prepare property and security reports and advice as required.
What you'll need to succeed
Demonstrated experience working within Commonwealth Government security, property or facilities environments.
Strong understanding and practical application of the Protective Security Policy Framework, particularly government security, security risk management and security investigation.
Experience applying the Commonwealth Resource Management Framework or Commonwealth Property Management Framework in property, facilities or project management contexts.
Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to prepare written advice, reports and formal presentations.
Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgement and the ability to contribute to strategic planning, program management and policy development.
Ability to work collaboratively and productively across a geographically dispersed team, both virtually and face-to-face.
You must be an Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 (Negative Vetting 1) security clearance
