Summary

Access Elevators Australia Pty Ltd is a Sydney-based lift installation company delivering lift construction and installation services across metropolitan Sydney. Due to continued demand, the company is seeking an experienced Lift Fitter / Mechanical Installer to join its growing team.

About the Role

The Lift Fitter / Mechanical Installer will be responsible for the mechanical installation, assembly and commissioning of lift systems at construction and project sites throughout Sydney.

This is a hands-on, site-based position suited to someone with practical mechanical installation experience and strong mechanical aptitude. Formal qualifications are not required, and lift-specific training can be provided where necessary to an applicant with suitable relevant experience.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

- Install mechanical lift components in accordance with manufacturer specifications, EN 81-20 requirements and other applicable standards.

- Assemble and install lift car structures, guide rails, landing doors and associated equipment.

- Plumb and align lift shafts, rails and installation reference points.

- Install and tension lift ropes, complete re-roping of existing lifts, and install associated mechanical systems.

- Complete lift levelling and mechanical door-lock installations.

- Interpret technical drawings, plans and manufacturer installation instructions.

- Measure and set out installation points accurately.

- Install, test, adjust and commission mechanical lift components.

- Identify and report installation issues, defects or inconsistencies.

- Safely dismantle and remove redundant mechanical lift components where required.

- Organise tools, materials and components throughout each installation project.

- Liaise with builders, subcontractors, suppliers and project personnel.

- Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area.

- Protect company equipment, tools and materials from loss or damage.

- Complete installation work within agreed project timeframes.

- Install overspeed governor systems and associated lift safety components.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

- At least two years of relevant hands-on experience in lift fitting, mechanical installation, mechanical fitting or a closely related mechanical or installation role.

- No formal qualifications are required. Relevant practical experience and demonstrated mechanical ability will be the primary consideration.

- Demonstrated experience installing or assembling mechanical equipment and structural components.

- Previous lift, elevator or vertical-transport installation experience will be highly regarded, although training in lift-specific systems and company procedures can be provided to an applicant with suitable relevant mechanical experience.

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans and specifications.

- Strong measuring, alignment and mechanical problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.

- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.

- Good communication skills and a professional approach when working on client and construction sites.

- Current driver licence and willingness to travel between project sites throughout metropolitan Sydney.

- Construction White Card or willingness to obtain one before commencing work.
