Our client, KATSUGYU GADIGAL SYDNEY PTY LTD, trading as Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu Sydney, operates a Japanese dining and food-service business in Sydney CBD, offering Kyoto-style gyukatsu and related Japanese food products. The business customers seeking a specialised Japanese dining experience.

Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu originated in Kyoto with a focus on gyukatsu prepared with attention to quality, craftsmanship and presentation. The Sydney operation aims to deliver this established concept while maintaining consistent customer experience and commercial performance.

Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu Sydney is seeking an experienced Retail Manager to manage the commercial and administrative aspects of the outlet and support the effective operation and growth of the business. The position will have particular responsibility for sales performance, staffing administration, purchasing, inventory management, supplier coordination, customer relations, reporting and implementation of business improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement sales, customer-retention and business development strategies to achieve revenue, profitability and customer experience objectives.

- Monitor sales performance, customer demand and other business indicators, prepare management reports and recommend corrective or improvement actions.

- Establish and monitor business performance targets and assist management with business planning, budgeting and forecasting.

- Coordinate staffing requirements, employee allocation and roster planning, and assist with recruitment, induction, training and performance management.

- Monitor labour utilisation and staffing costs and recommend measures to improve workforce efficiency.

- Manage inventory and stock-control procedures, including stock planning, monitoring stock levels, stock movements, wastage and variances.

- Analyse purchasing requirements and liaise with suppliers regarding product availability, pricing, delivery schedules, quality issues and supply reliability.

- Develop and maintain customer-service procedures, monitor customer feedback and complaints, and identify opportunities to improve customer retention and satisfaction.

- Assist in developing and implementing promotional, marketing and customer-engagement initiatives and assess their effectiveness in generating sales.

- Maintain business records, operational documentation and administrative systems, and monitor compliance with relevant business, licensing, food-safety and workplace requirements.

- Identify operational gaps, inefficiencies and unnecessary expenditure; review existing methods and workflows and recommend practical business improvements.

- Assist in implementing approved changes to systems, processes and procedures, provide guidance to employees on business policies and procedures, and monitor the effectiveness of improvements.

Qualifications and Experience Required

- Minimum Diploma in Retail Management, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Business Management or a related field.

- At least one year of relevant experience in retail management, hospitality management, food retail, customer-facing business operations or a similar managerial role.

- Experience in sales analysis, inventory management, purchasing, staff administration and customer relationship management will be highly regarded.
