About the Position:

The Chef plays a central role in the kitchen, ensuring the consistent preparation and presentation of high-quality Italian dishes while maintaining food safety and operational standards. This position contributes directly to the restaurant’s reputation by overseeing daily food production, supporting menu execution and working closely with kitchen and front-of-house teams to deliver an excellent guest experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan menus, estimate food and labour costs, and order food supplies

Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation

Discuss food preparation issues with managers, dietitians and kitchen/waiting staff

Demonstrate techniques and advise on cooking procedures

Prepare and cook food to the required standards

Explain and enforce hygiene regulations

Select and train staff as required

Freeze and preserve foods when necessary

Requirements:

Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Certificate IV in Kitchen Management and/or Diploma of Hospitality Management

Minimum 1 year relevant experience

Strong technical cooking skills in Italian cuisine, including pasta, pizza and classic mains

Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices

Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy kitchen environment

Good interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house teams

Reliability, attention to detail and a commitment to consistent quality
