Axis Surveys Pty Ltd About the position: Due to a high volume of ongoing and upcoming land development and construction projects, Axis Surveys is seeking a full-time Civil Engineering Draftsperson to join our professional team in Brisbane. The position plays an important role in supporting the delivery of surveying and land development projects by converting field survey data and project information into accurate, detailed and industry-compliant drawings and plans.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, checking and amending a range of surveying and construction-related plans, including boundary, easement, subdivision, contour and setout plans, using CAD and specialised drafting software. The role involves working closely with surveyors and other technical team members to interpret field data, project requirements and technical information and translate these into accurate drawings and documentation.
The position requires strong technical drafting skills, attention to detail and proficiency with drafting software, together with an understanding of the standards and requirements applicable to surveying, land development and construction projects. Benefits A salary of AUD $75,000 to $85,000 per annum plus superannuation will be offered to the successful candidate. Task & responsibilities Key Responsibilities Draft detailed surveying plans, including boundary, easement, subdivision, contour and setout plans, using AutoCAD, Carlson, 12D and other specialised drafting software.
Interpret field survey data, measurements, field notes and project information to prepare accurate technical drawings and plans. Work closely with surveyors and other technical team members to clarify survey information and ensure drawings accurately reflect field data and project requirements. Check, review and amend drawings and plans to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with project specifications and applicable drafting and surveying requirements.
Update and revise existing plans to incorporate new survey data, design changes and other project information. Prepare technical drawings and supporting documentation for land development, subdivision and construction projects. Assist surveyors and other technical team members with the preparation and coordination of surveying plans, drawings and project documentation.
Follow established quality assurance and document control procedures in accordance with the company's Quality Management System (QMS). Maintain accurate drawing and project records, ensuring plans and associated files are correctly named, saved, updated and stored within company systems. Maintain knowledge of relevant Australian drafting standards, surveying requirements and industry practices applicable to the preparation of technical drawings and plans.
Qualification & experience To be successful in this role, you will need: A Diploma or higher qualification in Drafting, Civil Construction Design, Surveying, Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related field. At least one year of relevant experience in a drafting position, preferably within surveying, civil construction, land development or a related technical environment. Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software, with experience using Carlson, 12D or other specialised surveying and drafting software highly regarded.
Ability to interpret survey data, measurements and technical information and accurately translate this information into drawings and plans. Strong technical drawing skills, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Good organisational skills and the ability to manage drafting tasks and priorities across multiple projects.
Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with surveyors and other technical team members. Knowledge of relevant Australian drafting standards and surveying requirements is advantageous. Experience within the surveying, civil construction or land development sector will be highly regarded.
Familiarity with ABS or similar operational/project systems used within a surveying environment is desirable.
