We are seeking highly experienced and qualified Poultry Farmer to join our team of hardworking professionals. In this role you will manage the breeding, raising, and care of poultry for egg production, meat and breeding stock.
The role includes but is not limited to:
Organise poultry farming operations and routines, such as feeding, collecting and storing eggs, and administration of vaccinations and medications
Select and purchase breeding stock, and manage poultry breeding programs
Monitor and maintain the health, welfare and condition of poultry, including by developing and overseeing strategies to manage biosecurity and other risks
Clean and disinfect houses, pens, and equipment as well as maintaining proper ventilation, lighting, and heating/cooling systems
Direct and oversee general poultry farming activities, including the provision and maintenance of infrastructure such as fence, barns, sheds, cages, and hatchery equipment
Organise the sale, purchase and transportation of poultry and eggs
Coordinate and schedule activities such as breeding, storage, disposal of waste products and poultry hatch schedules
Maintain and evaluate records of poultry farming activities, monitors market activity, and plans production accordingly
Document mortality rates, feed consumption, and egg production.
Manage poultry farm business capital, including budgeting, taxation, debt and loan management
Adhere strictly to bio-safety protocols to prevent disease outbreaks
Report workplace hazards identified during the course of work to appropriate person according to standard operating procedures
May select, train and supervise poultry farm staff and contractors
Required Skills and Qualifications
Degree holder or higher in a highly relevant field of study and at least one year of post-qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years
Able to perform manual labor, lift heavy feed bags, and work in varied temperatures.
Understanding of poultry behavior, nutrition, and basic veterinary care.
Ability to spot illness, monitor equipment, and maintain accurate records.
Ability to operate and repair automated feeding, ventilation, and watering systems
Knowledge of safety regulations, including environmental permits and veterinary health certificates

Salary: $79,499 per annum inclusive of overtime
