About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Sports Turf Maintenance Officers and Grounds Crew for contract roles supporting public sector operations and local municipal assets.
These hands-on roles are responsible for keeping local sports ovals, turf wickets, active reserves, and community outdoor spaces safe, functional, and match-ready.
Key Responsibilities
Turf & Oval Maintenance: Perform routine and seasonal turf maintenance on sportsfields, ovals, and active spaces, including broad-scale mowing, aeration, fertilizing, and turf curation.
Specialized Machinery Operation: Safely operate tractors, commercial ride-on mowers, turf wicket mowers, rollers, slashers, line-marking equipment, and small power tools.
Irrigation & Weed Management: Assist with basic maintenance and operation of in-ground irrigation/sprinkler systems and execute targeted weed control and herbicide spraying.
Event & Match Preparation: Prepare playing surfaces and surrounds for sporting club training, weekend games, and community events (including line marking and goalpost setup).
Asset Maintenance & Safety: Inspect sportsfields for hazards, maintain park assets/surrounds, complete pre-start machinery checks, and log daily works using mobile digital devices.
Community Engagement: Provide courteous, professional interaction with local sporting clubs, venue users, and the general public.
What You Need to Succeed
Experience: Practical experience maintaining sportsfields, turf wickets, golf courses, or municipal parks/open spaces.
Machinery Skills: Proven ability to operate ride-on mowers, tractors, and small plant machinery safely.
Licence: Current valid Victorian Driver's Licence (Light Rigid or Medium Rigid licence is advantageous).
OHS & Compliance: Strong commitment to workplace health and safety protocols, manual handling, and hazard identification.
Desirable (Not Mandatory): Certificate III in Sports Turf Management, Horticulture, or equivalent trade qualification; active Working with Children Check (WWCC); or chemical spraying certificates (ACUP).
