About the Role
We are seeking 15 reliable and motivated Fruit Farm Workers to join a commercial fruit-growing operation in the Shepparton region of Victoria.
These are full-time positions, expected to commence in October 2026.
Successful applicants will work an average of 38 ordinary hours per week, with additional hours and overtime potentially required depending on harvest, seasonal and operational requirements.
The positions involve hands-on work across a range of fruit-growing, harvesting, packing and general horticultural activities.
Example Working Hours
An example of a standard 38-hour working week may be:
Monday to Thursday – 6:00am to 2:00pm
Friday – 6:00am to 12:00pm
This represents an example only and would be subject to applicable meal/rest breaks.
Actual rostered days and start and finish times may vary depending on operational requirements, harvest schedules, weather conditions and the requirements of the farm.
Employees may be required to work reasonable additional hours, weekends and overtime, particularly during busy harvest and production periods.
All applicable overtime, penalty rates and allowances will be paid in accordance with the Horticulture Award 2020 (MA000028).
Key Duties
Duties may include:
Picking and harvesting fruit
Pruning and general crop maintenance
Orchard and plant maintenance
Sorting, grading and packing produce
Preparing produce for storage or dispatch
General farm and property maintenance
Cleaning work areas and equipment
Manual handling, including lifting and carrying
Following workplace health and safety procedures
Other reasonable horticultural duties as required
Working Environment
This is a physically active, hands-on position in a commercial horticultural environment.
Applicants must be willing and able to:
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including hot, cold and wet conditions
Undertake repetitive manual tasks for extended periods
Stand, bend, reach, lift and carry as required
Work safely within a commercial agricultural environment
Commence work early in the morning when rostered
Work reasonable additional hours and overtime when required
Work weekends where required by the roster and operational needs
Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and reasonable directions
Appropriate workplace health and safety procedures will apply at all times.
About You
Successful applicants will:
Be reliable, punctual and have a strong work ethic
Be physically capable of undertaking manual horticultural work
Be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Be able to follow instructions and workplace safety procedures
Work effectively as part of a team
Be available to work 38 ordinary hours per week
Have flexibility to work reasonable additional hours and overtime when required
Be able to reliably attend rostered shifts
Previous experience in horticulture, farming, fruit picking, harvesting, packing or other physically demanding work is desirable but not essential. Workplace training will be provided.
Pay and Employment Conditions
The positions are covered by the Horticulture Award 2020 (MA000028).
The starting minimum rate for an adult Level 1 full-time employee is $25.74 per hour, equivalent to $978.10 for a 38-hour week.
Applicable overtime, penalty rates and allowances will be paid in accordance with the Award.
Employees will also receive full-time employment entitlements, including:
Annual leave
Personal/carer's leave
Superannuation in accordance with legislative requirements
Public holiday entitlements
Other applicable National Employment Standards and Award entitlements
Employee classifications and rates of pay will be reviewed and adjusted where required under the Horticulture Award as employees gain the relevant skills and experience.
