Croker Construction WA is a leading civil construction contractor delivering road construction, earthworks, subdivision and infrastructure projects throughout Western Australia.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Grader Operator to join our construction team.

This is a full-time position offering long-term employment opportunities, a supportive team environment and the chance to work on diverse civil construction projects across Western Australia.

About the Role

Reporting to the Site Manager, the Grader Operator will be responsible for operating graders and associated civil construction plant to achieve required road construction standards and project specifications.

The successful applicant will play a key role in road construction, earthworks, final trim operations and site preparation activities while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate motor graders safely and efficiently on civil construction projects.

• Perform final trim grading to specified tolerances.

• Box out roads and prepare pavement foundations.

• Construct and maintain road verges, batters and drainage systems.

• Cut and shape open drains and road formations.

• Level and finish sites following earthworks activities.

• Mix, spread and balance road construction materials including limestone, gravel and road base.

• Assist with topsoil stripping and material windrowing operations.

• Interpret construction drawings, plans and survey information.

• Protect and work from survey pegs and set-out information.

• Monitor grading levels and construction tolerances.

• Coordinate and assist road construction crews as a Leading Hand when required.

• Train and mentor junior operators and stringers.

• Conduct pre-start inspections and routine maintenance of plant and equipment.

• Maintain cleanliness and presentation of machinery and company vehicles.

• Operate ancillary plant and equipment including rollers, water carts and compactors as required.

• Comply with all Workplace Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Assurance requirements.

• Participate in site inductions, toolbox meetings and safety initiatives.

Skills and Experience Required

To be successful in this role you will possess:

• Minimum 3 years' experience operating graders within civil construction or road construction environments.

• Demonstrated experience in final trim grading and road construction works.

• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings and survey information.

• Sound understanding of road construction materials, compaction and drainage requirements.

• Strong knowledge of civil construction tolerances and quality standards.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong communication and leadership skills.

• Commitment to safe work practices.

Essential Requirements

• Construction White Card.

• Current C Class Driver's Licence.

• Grader operating competency/ticket.

• Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening.

Desirable Qualifications

• HR Driver's Licence.

• Loader, Excavator, Scraper, Roller or Water Cart competencies.

• First Aid Certificate.

• Basic Survey Training.

• Previous experience in subdivision, roadworks or infrastructure projects.
