Motor Mechanic (ANZSCO: 321211 - MOTOR MECHANIC (GENERAL))
Full-time/Permanent
$80,000 - $85,000 (salary will be commensurate to qualifications and experience)
Duties and Responsibilities:
*Conducting comprehensive mechanical inspections of vehicles acquired, traded or accepted on consignment to identify mechanical faults, defects, wear and maintenance requirements.
*Detecting and diagnosing faults in engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking and other mechanical systems using diagnostic equipment, computer-based scanning tools and established mechanical testing procedures.
*Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, suspension components and other mechanical parts where required for inspection, repair or replacement.
*Repairing or replacing worn, damaged or defective components and reassembling mechanical systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and service requirements.
*Testing and adjusting repaired mechanical components and vehicle systems to ensure correct operation, reliability and performance before vehicles are offered for sale or returned to service.
*Carrying out scheduled and preventative maintenance services, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, fluid checks and replacement, engine tune-ups and other routine servicing requirements.
*Inspecting braking, steering, suspension, drivetrain and related safety-critical systems and identifying repairs required to ensure vehicles are mechanically sound and suitable for road use.
*Conducting pre-sale mechanical inspections and road tests on dealership vehicles to identify faults or performance issues requiring rectification prior to delivery to customers.
*Performing post-repair testing and road testing to confirm that identified faults have been properly rectified and vehicles are operating safely and efficiently.
*Using manufacturer specifications, technical information, workshop manuals and diagnostic data to determine appropriate repair and servicing procedures across the various makes and models handled by Hyper Drive WA.
*Identifying vehicles requiring additional mechanical attention during the dealership's vehicle acquisition and consignment assessment process and advising management of the nature and extent of required repairs.
*Maintaining accurate records of inspections, diagnostic findings, servicing and repairs undertaken on dealership, trade-in and consignment vehicles.
*Ensuring tools, diagnostic equipment and workshop areas are maintained in safe working condition and that all mechanical work is carried out in accordance with workplace health and safety procedures.
*Working with the vehicle sales and operations team to ensure mechanical inspections, servicing and repairs are completed efficiently so that vehicles can be prepared for sale and customer delivery in a timely manner.
Qualifications and Experience:
*Relevant AQF Cert III including 2 years of on-the-job experience or Cert IV
*A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience may replace the requirement of having a qualification.
*Applicants with qualifications must demonstrate 1 years of relevant experience
