About this job

Senior Account Director, Public Relations

London Agency | Melbourne (St Kilda Road) | Hybrid: 3 days in-office, 2 days from home

About the role

London Agency (www.londonagency.com.au) is a specialist public relations and communications agency dedicated to helping medical and pharmaceutical companies achieve faster access, greater awareness, and deeper adoption of life-changing healthcare technologies.

We're looking for a Senior Account Director to take on a leadership role in our PR team. This is a senior position for an experienced agency PR practitioner who can run complex client relationships, grow accounts across medical technology and pharmaceutical clients, and lead colleagues by example. Based on performance, this role has a clear path to progress to Head of PR within 12 months.

Why Join Us

At London Agency, we hustle for headlines that fight for outcomes. Our work has helped secure funding for children's cancer research, built support for the nation's blood supply, and driven awareness for technologies that diagnose cancer faster, treat pain more effectively, and reduce chronic disease burden.

We work harder, go deeper, and push further than our competitors because the stakes are too high not to.

What You'll Do

• Own a portfolio of client relationships, acting as the senior trusted advisor across complex health and medical PR programs.

• Develop PR strategies and proposals, then pitch and sell them to clients at a senior level, connecting the investment to commercial outcomes.

• Build media-ready storylines and hooks, turn them into press releases and supporting materials, and pitch them directly to journalists to secure coverage.

• Manage media issues as they arise, including correcting the record when a story is misreported.

• Grow existing accounts and win new business, contributing to the PR team's annual growth target.

• Lead and mentor a small team, including regular one-to-ones and performance reviews, with genuine autonomy over how you run the function.

• Champion agency systems and processes as a systems leader for the team.

• Build and maintain a strong network across media, medical and industry stakeholders, and represent the agency at networking events.

• Travel interstate periodically to meet with clients based outside Victoria.

What You'll Bring

• At least 8 to 10 years' public relations experience, with the majority in an agency setting.

• A proven track record developing PR strategies and proposals, then pitching and winning client sign-off, at a senior level.

• Strong media relations craft, including building storylines and hooks that land, securing coverage, and confidently managing issues when a story goes wrong.

• Demonstrated ability to grow and manage a substantial book of business.

• Experience leading and developing junior colleagues, with a genuine interest in growing into a broader leadership role.

• An ability to build trust and credibility quickly with both clients and colleagues.

• Meticulous attention to detail and a genuine ability to get things done, quickly and well, as standard practice.

• A confident, assertive leadership style, comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy.

• Comfort and curiosity using AI tools to support PR work.

• Genuine interest in MedTech and the Australian health and regulatory landscape is an advantage.

What You'll Gain

• A genuine leadership role with real influence over how the PR team operates, with a clear path to progress to Head of PR within 12 months, based on performance.

• Work in a rewarding field that delivers a greater sense of purpose than many others.

• Exposure to C-suite clients and the chance to grow your political and media contact list further.

• Support for ongoing professional development.

Package

Salary range $130,000 to $135,000 plus superannuation, with participation in the agency bonus scheme, based on experience.

If you are an experienced PR leader who is credible with clients, meticulous in your delivery, and ready to help shape the next chapter of our PR team, we want to hear from you.
