Join Sureway as a Junior Accountant and help provide the financial accuracy, insight and accountability that enable our teams to change lives and build stronger communities. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will support financial and management accounting activities across a diverse, values-led organisation delivering employment, training and health services throughout Australia.
This is a hands-on opportunity to broaden your accounting experience while working within a collaborative team that values integrity, continuous improvement and responsible financial stewardship.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver month-end and year-end processes, including preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and general ledger reconciliations.
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, investigate reconciling items and help maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial records.
Prepare monthly management reports, financial statements, budgeting and forecasting, including analysing income, expenditure and variances.
Debtor and creditor management, cost allocations and the maintenance of the fixed asset register, including asset additions and disposals.
Prepare reconciliations and supporting documentation for internal and external audits, maintaining accurate records and audit trails.
Payroll reconciliations and statutory compliance activities, including superannuation, payroll tax, GST and BAS reporting.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
A relevant qualification in accounting, commerce, finance or a related discipline, together with one to three years’ experience in an accounting or finance role.
Sound knowledge of financial and management accounting processes, with an understanding of accounting standards, internal controls and statutory compliance requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies, identify trends and interpret financial information.
Excellent attention to detail, communication and organisational skills, supported by a collaborative and values-focused approach.
Intermediate Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP and SUMIFS, and experience using MYOB Exo, Xero, MYOB or a similar accounting system.
Progress towards CPA or CA qualification, or experience with Power BI and financial reporting tools, would be highly regarded.

Salary: $80,000-$100,000 + superannuation
