Position Overview

On behalf of Volcano Steakhouse Pty Ltd, a premier dining destination in Epping, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere and specialising in premium steakhouse cuisine, we are conducting a search for a dedicated and skilled Chef.

Position Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Plan and coordinate the preparation of steakhouse meals, including dry-aged steaks, chicken, seafood, salads, sides, and other menu items.

• Organise daily food production according to anticipated customer demand, restaurant service requirements, and scheduled functions or group booking.

• Assess ingredient requirements and coordinate the procurement of fresh, locally sourced produce, meats, seafood, and other kitchen supplies.

• Monitor the condition and quality of ingredients throughout storage and preparation to maintain freshness and minimise food wastage.

• Oversee cooking and plating processes to ensure dishes meet required standards for flavour, texture, portion size, cooking temperature, and presentation.

• Communicate with management, kitchen team members, and service staff to coordinate food preparation, customer orders, special requests, and service requirements.

• Demonstrate appropriate preparation and cooking methods for steaks, seafood, chicken, salads, sauces, sides, and other dishes to kitchen staff.

• Prepare, cook, season, garnish, and present meals in accordance with established recipes, production schedules, and presentation standards.

• Enforce appropriate food safety, cleanliness, sanitation, and personal hygiene practices throughout food preparation, cooking, storage, and service.

• Train and supervise kitchen staff in preparation techniques, cooking procedures, equipment use, portion control, presentation, and the proper storage and preservation of food.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Relevant qualifications in commercial cookery or a related hospitality field.

• A minimum of two years’ experience working in a similar role.

• Competent in using commercial kitchen equipment, cooking appliances, food preparation tools, refrigeration equipment, and other kitchen machinery.

• Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.

• Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a kitchen team.

Salary: This is a full-time position with competitive remuneration between $75,000 – 90,000 p.a. plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
