Mechanical Technician

Our valued client, NEWCO FARMS is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician for an egg farm who will be responsible in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting the specialised, often automated, machinery required for poultry production and egg processing. These roles focus on ensuring high uptime for equipment such as feeding systems, egg conveyor belts, sorting machines, and environmental control systems while adhering to strict specific protocols of Newco Farms.

Core Mechanical Technician Duties on Egg Farms:

Preventative Maintenance (PM): Conducting scheduled inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments on conveyors, gearboxes, motors, and bearings to prevent breakdowns

Breakdown Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Diagnosing, repairing, and replacing faulty components on automated machinery in the packing, sorting, and grading areas

Poultry System Maintenance: Repairing and maintaining shed equipment, including feedline motors, augers, fans, pulleys, and cooling pads

Egg Processing Machinery: Servicing high-tech machinery, such as egg graders, washers, and printers, in the warehouse/grading areas

Documentation & Reporting: Recording maintenance tasks, tracking spare parts consumption, and reporting on machine performance to the site manager

Safety Compliance: Ensuring all machinery operates according to Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standards and food safety regulations

Report workplace hazards identified during the course of work to appropriate person according to standard operating procedures

To be considered for this role, you must have the following:

With more than 3 years of experience in the same field (preferably in poultry operations)

Strong mechanical knowledge on a wide variety of equipment

Skilled in preventive/corrective maintenance, machine breakdown diagnosis and repair, and equipment fabrication

Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment

Strong communication skills

Strong diagnostic abilities

Self-motivated, organised, punctual and reliable

Honest, diligent and able to perform assigned duties to the best of your knowledge and abilities

Must have great work ethics
