Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: $77,000 – $85,000 + Superannuation

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Japanese Restaurant Cook to join our busy kitchen team in Mount Isa, Queensland.

The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing a range of Japanese dishes and supporting the day-to-day operation of our kitchen. This is a full-time position suited to a qualified Cook with relevant commercial kitchen experience and a genuine interest in Japanese cuisine.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare and cook a variety of Japanese dishes, including sushi, sashimi and hot meals

* Follow recipes and maintain consistent food quality and presentation

* Prepare ingredients and maintain an organised and efficient kitchen

* Assist with menu preparation and development

* Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and receiving supplies

* Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness

* Follow workplace health and safety requirements

* Work efficiently during busy service periods

* Communicate and work effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff

Requirements

* Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification

* Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience as a Cook, preferably in a Japanese restaurant or similar commercial kitchen

* Sound knowledge of food preparation and commercial cooking techniques

* Experience with Japanese cuisine, sushi or hot food preparation will be highly regarded

* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment

* Good time management and attention to detail

* Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team

* Good communication skills
