About the Role

Smart Energy Answers is seeking a skilled and motivated Engineering Technologist to join our team, supporting the design, development, and implementation of solar and renewable energy systems. This is a full-time position based at our Castle Hill office, working closely with our engineering team on residential, commercial, and utility-scale solar energy projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in the design, development, and testing of solar and renewable energy systems and components

• Prepare technical drawings, specifications, layouts, and documentation for solar PV installations and related energy systems

• Conduct site inspections, assessments, and feasibility studies for proposed solar energy installations

• Perform system performance testing, monitoring, and evaluation of solar energy equipment and installations

• Assist in the selection of appropriate materials, equipment, and components for renewable energy projects

• Provide technical support during the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of solar energy systems

• Analyse and interpret technical data to identify system inefficiencies and recommend design improvements

• Ensure all designs, installations, and documentation comply with relevant Australian Standards, codes, and regulatory requirements

• Liaise with engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients to support project delivery timelines

• Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and compliance records

• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and renewable energy solutions

Skills and Experience Required

• Relevant qualification in Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field (Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Bachelor's degree)

• Demonstrated experience in solar PV systems design, installation, or renewable energy engineering support

• Sound knowledge of solar energy systems, electrical principles, and renewable energy technologies

• Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards and compliance requirements for solar/renewable energy installations

• Proficiency with technical design and drafting software (e.g. AutoCAD, PVsyst, or similar)

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with engineers, tradespeople, and clients

• Ability to conduct site visits and inspections as required

Salary

Base salary: $79,499 – $85,000 per annum, plus superannuation. Overtime and additional benefits may apply in accordance with the employment contract. (Base salary is exclusive of superannuation and other benefits.)
