Anticipated Start Date: December 2026

Hours: Monday to Friday, with weekend work where required due to seasonal and operational requirements

Award: Horticulture Award 2020 [MA000028]

Classification: Horticulture Employee Level 1

Pay Rate: Casual hourly rate in accordance with the Horticulture Award 2020, including 25% casual loading, plus applicable overtime, penalty rates and allowances.

Superannuation: Paid in accordance with legislative requirements.

About the Role

We are seeking 10 reliable and hardworking Flower Farm Labourers to join a commercial flower-growing operation in the Newcastle region for a 9-month assignment commencing in December 2026.

This is a hands-on horticultural role involving the growing, harvesting, handling and preparation of flowers for market.

Work will be undertaken across outdoor growing areas and covered growing/packing areas depending on seasonal and operational requirements.

The role is physically active and requires employees to work on their feet for extended periods, undertake repetitive tasks and work in varying weather and temperature conditions.

Key Duties

Duties may include:

Planting and assisting with the establishment of flower crops

General flower crop maintenance

Weeding and maintaining growing areas

Harvesting and picking flowers

Cutting flowers to required specifications

Bunching and preparing flowers for packing

Sorting and grading flowers for quality

Packing flowers and preparing orders for dispatch

Removing damaged or unsuitable flowers

General farm and horticultural labouring

Cleaning and maintaining work and packing areas

Assisting with irrigation and basic crop maintenance as directed

Moving trays, buckets, boxes and other materials around the farm

Following harvesting, quality and production requirements

Following supervisor instructions and safe work procedures

Complying with all workplace health and safety requirements

About You

To be successful in these positions, applicants should demonstrate:

A strong work ethic and reliable attendance

Good physical fitness and ability to undertake repetitive manual work

Ability to work on your feet for extended periods

Willingness to undertake outdoor work in varying weather conditions

Good attention to detail when harvesting, grading and packing flowers

Ability to follow instructions and quality requirements

Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Availability to work additional hours and weekends when reasonably required

Commitment to completing the full 9-month assignment

Experience & Requirements

Previous experience in horticulture, farming, flower production, harvesting, picking, packing or other agricultural work would be advantageous but is not essential.

Training and workplace induction will be provided.

Applicants must:

Be able to safely undertake the inherent physical requirements of the role

Be willing to undertake repetitive manual tasks

Be willing to work in outdoor and covered growing environments

Be willing to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment where required

Be willing to undertake drug and alcohol screening where required

Comply with workplace health and safety policies and procedures

Hold appropriate Australian work rights for the duration of the assignment

A current driver's licence and reliable transport are desirable due to the farm location and availability of public transport.
