Painter

Galaverna Property Services We are looking for a reliable Painter with a minimum of one-year painting experience to join our Melbourne-based team. You will complete interior and exterior painting, surface preparation and minor patching work across residential and light-commercial sites, working closely with our other trades and reporting to the company director. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality finishes, works safely and independently and communicates well with clients in occupied homes and workplaces.

Benefits Annual salary of AU$75,000 – AU$85,000 + Superannuation Task & responsibilities • Examine surfaces and previous work to establish the nature and extent of painting required. • Prepare internal and external surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, patching, filling cracks and applying primer. • Remove old paint, wallpaper or coatings using scraping, sanding or appropriate paint removers. • Select and mix paints, stains, tints and protective coatings to match specified colours and finishes. • Paint walls, ceilings, doors, skirting boards, window frames, fences, decks and other property surfaces using brushes, rollers and spray equipment where appropriate. • Complete minor plaster repairs, hole patching, caulking and touch-up work before painting. • Erect and safely work from ladders, trestles or scaffolding for exterior and higher-level work. • Protect furniture, flooring and surrounding areas, and maintain a clean and tidy worksite. • Advise clients on practical paint finishes, and estimate paint, materials and time required for smaller jobs. • Follow workplace health and safety requirements, including safe use of tools, paint products and personal protective equipment.

Qualification & experience • Minimum one year practical painting experience, preferably in residential maintenance, renovations, property services or handyman work. • Demonstrated experience in interior and exterior painting, surface preparation and minor patching repairs. • Confident using common painting tools, including brushes, rollers, sanders, scrapers and basic spray-painting equipment. • A painting trade qualification or apprenticeship progress is desirable but not essential. • Current Victorian driver's licence and reliable transport preferred, with the ability to travel to jobs across Melbourne and surrounding suburbs. • Good attention to detail and pride in producing neat, quality finishes. • Practical problem-solving skills, including identifying minor repairs needed before painting. • Strong time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs or changing priorities. • Physically capable of standing, bending, lifting materials and working safely on ladders. • Friendly, professional communication style, comfortable working in occupied homes and workplaces.
