About the Role

Our client, VPT Mechanical Solutions, is expanding and seeking an experienced Motor Mechanic (General) / Light Vehicle Mechanic to join their team in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing light motor vehicles to ensure they operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in light vehicles using diagnostic equipment and computerised systems.

Inspect engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking systems, and other mechanical components.

Dismantle, inspect, repair, and replace faulty or worn vehicle components.

Reassemble mechanical components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and service manuals.

Perform scheduled maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, fluid checks, engine tune-ups, and general servicing.

Test and adjust repaired components to ensure proper performance, safety, and reliability.

Use computer-based diagnostic equipment to identify and troubleshoot vehicle faults.

Inspect vehicles and identify repairs required to meet roadworthiness and safety standards.

Respond to vehicle breakdowns and provide on-site mechanical assistance when required.

Maintain accurate records of inspections, servicing, repairs, and parts replaced.

Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and relevant automotive standards.

Skills and Qualifications

Relevant trade qualification in Motor Mechanics, Automotive Technology, or a related field.

Proven experience as a Motor Mechanic or Light Vehicle Mechanic.

Strong knowledge of light vehicle engines and mechanical systems.

Good mechanical diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

Experience using automotive diagnostic tools and computerised systems.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Current driver's licence is highly desirable.

Relevant licensing or registration may be required.
