Senior Laboratory Technician - Chemistry

About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced laboratory professional to step into a senior role where you’ll combine your technical expertise with team leadership and continuous improvement. Working closely with the Laboratory Manager and wider Quality Assurance team, you’ll help ensure our laboratory continues to deliver accurate, reliable and timely results while supporting the quality and food safety of our products.
Salary: $80,000 – $85,000 per annum
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, coach, mentor and develop Laboratory Technicians, providing technical guidance and support.
* Plan and oversee laboratory testing, technical processes and laboratory services.
* Conduct method development, evaluation and validation, as well as manage stability trials and testing.
* Calibrate, operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and coordinate maintenance and servicing.
* Review analytical data, quality control results and Certificates of Analysis.
* Ensure testing, reporting and laboratory records comply with established quality systems.
* Identify, investigate and document Out of Specifications (OOS) results and non-conformances.
* Conduct root cause analysis and support corrective and preventative actions.
* Assist with internal and external laboratory audits and support ISO 17025 accreditation requirements.
* Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement, with a focus on reducing variation and improving laboratory performance.

You enjoy working in a hands-on environment, solving problems as they arise and finding ways to continually improve how things are done. Whether you’re providing technical guidance, supporting the development of your team or collaborating with other areas of the business, you’ll bring a clear, practical and approachable communication style.
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
* A tertiary qualification in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline, or relevant experience in a scientific or analytical environment.
* Experience working within a laboratory or analytical environment.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and identify practical solutions.
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and reliable results.
*The ability to lead, coach and mentor laboratory staff and contribute positively to a team environment.
* Strong relationship management skills and the confidence to work with a range of internal teams and external suppliers.
* Strong computer and data management skills.
* The ability to work autonomously, priorities competing demands and make sound decisions when required.
*A proactive approach to continuous improvement, quality and food safety.
