Jaybhavani, an established Indian vegetarian restaurant group operating across multiple locations in Australia, is currently looking for an experienced and motivated Chef to join its Southport location. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a wide range of Indian vegetarian dishes, snacks and other menu items to a consistently high standard. The role will involve supporting daily kitchen operations, maintaining food quality and presentation, and ensuring efficient food preparation and service. The Chef will also work closely with the kitchen and management team to maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities
• Plan and prepare a wide range of dishes, snacks, curries, breads, accompaniments and other menu items in accordance with restaurant
requirements.
• Prepare, season and cook food using appropriate ingredients, cooking methods and recipes while maintaining consistent taste and
quality.
• Monitor the freshness, quality, portion sizes and presentation of prepared food to ensure dishes meet the restaurant’s standards before
service.
• Assist with menu planning, recipe development and food costing, including determining suitable quantities of ingredients required for
daily operations.
• Supervise and assist cooks and kitchenhands with food preparation, cooking techniques, portion control and the efficient organisation of
kitchen activities.
• Monitor inventory levels and arrange orders for vegetables, spices, groceries, cooking ingredients and other kitchen supplies required for
daily food production.
• Work closely with management to introduce new vegetarian dishes and improve existing recipes based on customer preferences and
operational requirements.
• Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure customer orders are prepared accurately, efficiently and within expected service times.
• Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen, including appropriate storage, handling and preparation of food and regular cleaning of
equipment and work areas.
• Follow and enforce food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures, including safe food handling, temperature control
and prevention of cross-contamination.
Qualifications & Experience
• AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cooking/Kitchen Management or equivalent and AQF Diploma in Hospitality Management or equivalent
• At least one year of relevant experience as a chef is required.
• Strong understanding of food safety, kitchen hygiene, stock control and quality control procedure.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy restaurant kitchen and during peak service hours.
Salary $80k - $85k
Hours Full -Time, 38 Hours (Weekly)
