My Australian Career A well-established steakhouse in Glen Waverley is seeking an experienced Chef to join its kitchen team on a full-time basis. Positions Overview: The Chef will plan, coordinate and prepare meals in line with our menu, ensuring consistent quality, presentation and adherence to food safety standards, while supervising kitchen staff and contributing to menu development. Opportunity to showcase your creativity and culinary skills. Task & responsibilities Plan menus, taking into account likely number of guests, marketing conditions, and staff and equipment needs, and estimate food and labour costs. Discuss food preparation issues with managers, dietitians, kitchen and floor staff.
Order and monitor foodstuffs, kitchen supplies and equipment, and maintain inventory records. Coordinate and monitor the work of kitchen staff, including cooks and kitchen hands. Prepare and cook high-quality dishes, including premium steak and seafood offerings, to specified recipes and presentation standards.
Demonstrate and explain food preparation techniques to kitchen staff and trainees. Monitor the quality of dishes prepared and served, at all stages of preparation and presentation. Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety regulations, including proper storage, handling and cleanliness standards.
Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a culture of learning, consistency and culinary excellence. Confer with restaurant management on staffing, budgets and kitchen operations. Qualification & experience Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent culinary qualification.
Proven experience as a Chef with a strong background in menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen management. Comprehensive knowledge of food safety standards and regulations. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to train and motivate a team Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
Creative culinary skills with a passion for food and cooking. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
