About the Roles:
Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) is seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist (Level 4) to join the Healthy Children and Families stream, supporting some of the region's most vulnerable children and families at a critical stage of development.
The role will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team including child and family health nurses, allied health professionals, and paediatricians to provide proactive screening and early intervention speech pathology services to preschool-aged children across the district, as well as ongoing consultative support to nurses providing a home visiting program to families navigating complex social and developmental challenges across Murrumbidgee.

Position 1 – Sustaining NSW Families Speech Pathologist is a permanent part-time role of 8 hours per week , embedded within the Sustaining NSW Families program to provide targeted, ongoing consultative support to nurses providing a home visiting program to families navigating complex social and developmental challenges.
Position 2 – Preschool Health and Development Check Speech Pathologist is a permanent part-time role of 28 hours per week , focused on the Brighter Beginnings Preschool Health and Development Check program, supporting proactive screening and early intervention speech pathology services to preschool-aged children across the district.
Both positions are based within the Murrumbidgee Local Health District and require travel across multiple sites. They are senior clinical roles offering the opportunity to work with meaningful programs that shape early childhood outcomes across regional NSW.
Our Ideal Candidate will:
Hold a Bachelor or Postgraduate Degree in Speech Pathology with eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership, AHPRA registration, and experience at the NSW Health Professionals Award Level 4 — ideally with a paediatric speciality.
Bring extensive clinical experience across a range of service delivery models including one-on-one consultation, group therapy, telehealth and community education, with a demonstrated ability to manage a complex and varied caseload.
Be a confident and compassionate communicator who can engage, negotiate and collaborate effectively with families experiencing complex needs — including trauma, domestic violence or child protection concerns — as well as with clinicians, management and community stakeholders.
Demonstrate strong leadership capability, including clinical supervision experience, a commitment to quality improvement and evidence-based practice, and the ability to drive team performance within an organisational governance framework.
Be self-directed, adaptable and resilient, with well-developed time management skills to manage workload across multiple sites and competing priorities and holds an unrestricted NSW driver's licence to support travel across the district.
