Fleet Manager

Responsibilities include managing fleet operations, optimizing vehicle utilization, ensuring compliance with regulations, and overseeing maintenance schedules. Qualifications include a degree in logistics or a related field, experience in fleet management, and strong leadership skills.

Direct access to the Director — no layers of management to work through. Opportunity to grow in the management position. Task & responsibilities Keep the trucks and vans on the road — schedule servicing, book repairs, and stay on top of registrations and insurance renewals before they lapse.

Decide when to buy, lease or sell a vehicle, and negotiate directly with dealers and leasing companies. Plan daily runs and driver rosters around bookings, traffic and vehicle availability. Track fuel, toll and maintenance spend, and look for ways to trim fleet operating costs.

Use our GPS and fleet tracking software to keep tabs on where vehicles are and how they're being used. Sort out driver issues as they come up — fatigue logs, licence checks, induction for new starters. Keep on top of Chain of Responsibility and WHS obligations so the business and drivers stay compliant.

Deal directly with clients when a job needs a fleet solution, and keep them posted if plans change. Put together simple reports for the Director on fleet costs, utilisation and any recurring issues. Liaise with workshops, dealerships and suppliers to get vehicles serviced, repaired and back on the road quickly.

Qualification & experience At least 2 years' experience in a fleet management or transport operations role. Comfortable managing vehicle maintenance, driver rosters and supplier relationships with minimal oversight. Working knowledge of Chain of Responsibility, WHS and vehicle compliance requirements in Australia.

Hands-on experience with fleet management or GPS tracking software. Good knowledge of systems and process including software for fleet management Good with numbers — able to track and control operating costs. A clear communicator who can deal with drivers, clients and suppliers alike.
