As we continue to grow, we are seeking skilled and dedicated Steel Fixers to join our experienced team in Adelaide.

Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Steel Fixer to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for positioning and securing reinforcing steel and mesh into formwork, erecting scaffolding and rigging equipment, and supporting all aspects of steel fixing and concrete reinforcement works across residential and commercial construction sites.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Position, secure and fix steel bars and tie wire mesh into concrete formwork to reinforce concrete structures in accordance with specifications

• Measure, cut and bend reinforcing steel and mesh to required dimensions and tie into position ready for concrete pours

• Erect, assemble and dismantle scaffolding by fitting, bolting and lifting tubes, support braces and components to form safe working platforms

• Attach slinging gear, clamps, hooks and bolts to hoisting equipment to safely lift and move steel units, plates and columns into position

• Implement and adhere to all Work Health, Safety and Environment (WHS&E) policies and procedures

• Inspect and maintain ACC steelwork as engineer and hoisting equipment to ensure safe and compliant operation on site

Required qualifications & skills

• Applicants must hold a Certificate II or higher qualification or equivalent in a relevant field

• Minimum 1 year full time or equivalent part-time (minimum 20 hours per week) of work experience in steel fixing or related field

• A sound knowledge of reading and interpreting structural drawings and specifications,

• Proficiency in measuring, cutting, bending and fixing reinforcing steel and mesh, and experience in rigging, scaffolding and hoisting equipment is desirable.

• Applicants must hold a valid Construction Induction (White Card), meet all relevant OH&S requirements, be physically fit to perform manual handling tasks,
