Position Summary

The Diesel Motor Mechanic is responsible for the diagnosis, maintenance,

servicing and repair of diesel-powered engines and associated systems in heavy

vehicles and mobile plant equipment used in mining operations. The role focuses

on ensuring the reliability, safety and performance of diesel engines and

mechanical systems in a high-demand operational environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Diagnose faults in diesel engines and associated mechanical components using appropriate.

testing equipment and diagnostic tools .

Carry out servicing, maintenance and repair of diesel engines in heavy vehicles and mobile mining equipment (e.g. haul trucks, loaders, excavators).

Dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble diesel engines and components in accordance with manufacturer specifications Test and adjust mechanical parts after repair to ensure optimal performance and compliance with operational standards.

Perform scheduled maintenance and preventative service to minimize equipment downtime.

Identify and replace worn or defective engine components, including fuel systems, transmissions, and braking systems.

Conduct engine performance testing and ensuring equipment operates efficiently and safely.

Maintain accurate service records and report on mechanical issues and completed work.

Follow workplace health and safety procedures, and ensure compliance with site safety standards
