POSITION
Full-time position for a Pressure Welder is available in Pinkenba, QLD, 4008.
SKILLS
At least an AQF Certificate III, including at least two years of on-the-job training or a Certificate Ivin a relevant field. At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification. In addition to the qualification at least one year of relevant work experience is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Pressure Welder is responsible for assembling, welding, inspecting, testing and repairing pressure vessels, pipes, pipelines, boilers, tanks and associated pressure-containing components in accordance with engineering drawings, approved welding procedures, relevant Australian Standards and industry specifications.
The role requires precision welding using MMAW, GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG) and FCAW processes on carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy materials in workshop and site environments.
POSITION DUTIES
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, welding procedure specifications and technical specifications to determine job requirements and appropriate welding techniques for pressure systems.
Select, measure, cut, shape, bend, bevel, clean and prepare metal sections and pipes using hand tools, heating equipment and metalworking machinery.
Align, fit and secure pipes, vessel components and other pressure-containing components before welding.
Assemble, weld and repair pressure vessels, pipes, pipelines, boilers and tanks to relevant standards and approved welding procedures.
Operate welding equipment using MMAW, GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG) and FCAW
processes.
Weld in various positions, including vertical and overhead positions, and in confined spaces where required.
Conduct pre-heating, post-weld heat treatment, stress-relief and finishing processes as specified.
Examine welds for bead width, penetration, precision, defects and compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
Conduct or assist with pressure, leak and other weld-integrity testing to confirm that pressure-containing systems meet required standards.
Repair defective welds and complete rework in accordance with approved procedures.
Clean and smooth welds by grinding, filing, chiselling and polishing as required.
Perform routine inspection and maintenance of welding equipment and report equipment defects.
Comply with workplace health and safety requirements, permit systems and safe work procedures.
Work collaboratively with fabricators, boilermakers, inspectors and engineers to complete work to specification.

SALARY
