APS4 Participant Support Officer

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of Australians and supporting a purpose-driven organisation in the disability sector? We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and resilient individual to step into an APS4 Participant Support Officer role. You will play a pivotal role in assisting participants through their journey while balancing safeguarding, policy, and operational goals.

The Details:

Start : ASAP

Role Type : Full-Time Temporary Contract to 31st December 2026 (potential extension)

Location : Newcastle NSW

Pay Rate : $43.82 per hour + Super

Work Rights : Australian Citizenship required

Key Responsibilities:

Perform desktop reviews, data transposing, and administrative support using specialised systems.

Respond to straightforward and moderately complex enquiries from participants, families, providers, and stakeholders.

Manage daily workflow allocations, analyse priorities, and ensure service delivery time frames are met.

Undertake suitability assessments for entry and exit into specialised planning streams.

Action moderately complex planning tasks in accordance with legislation, policy guidelines, and procedures.

Escalate complex matters appropriately and collaborate effectively within a team environment to share knowledge.

Working collaboratively in a team environment, providing feedback, contributing to process improvement, team activities and on-the-job support for peers.

Skills & Experience Required:

Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication with active listening and participant empathy.

Policy Application: Ability to apply legislation, operational guidelines, and policy frameworks to resolve issues.

Prioritisation : Strong time-management skills to balance competing tasks under general direction.

De-escalation & Resilience: Calm, professional demeanour with proven skills in managing risk and de-escalating difficult situations.

Teamwork: Collaborative mindset with a willingness to guide and support peers.

Technical Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Office suite and adept at learning complex database systems.
