Our client, Martu Waru Pty Ltd, is a proudly Indigenous-led Western Australian company providing building, construction, maintenance, civil, fabrication and electrical services across metropolitan, regional and remote Western Australia.
Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Plumber (General) to join their team in Port Hedland, Western Australia.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing plumbing, drainage, water supply and associated building services across construction, maintenance and other projects in the Pilbara and regional Western Australia. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail and a commitment to safe and compliant plumbing practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Interpret plumbing plans, technical drawings and specifications to determine system layouts, materials, measurements and installation requirements.
• Set out and install hot and cold water supply systems, pipework and associated plumbing equipment.
• Install and maintain water-based fire protection systems, including fire hydrants, hose reels and sprinkler systems where required.
• Install sanitary plumbing systems, water supply pipework, discharge lines and sanitary fixtures.
• Fabricate and install soil, waste and vent stacks in accordance with relevant requirements.
• Install and connect mechanical services, including air handling, air conditioning and small-bore heating systems where required.
• Install sewerage and effluent pumping equipment and associated disposal systems.
• Install below-ground drainage systems and provide appropriate support and protection for underground pipework.
• Install and connect gas appliances, flues, regulators and associated gas services in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Fabricate and install metal roofing components, rainwater goods, gutters, downpipes and flashings where required.
• Test plumbing systems for leaks, pressure, flow and correct operation and rectify faults where necessary.
• Carry out plumbing repairs, maintenance, alterations and replacement works to existing systems and fixtures.
• Measure, cut, thread, bend, join and install pipes and fittings using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Safely operate and maintain plumbing tools, equipment and machinery.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, tradespeople, clients and other project personnel.
• Complete required job documentation and maintain accurate work records.
• Ensure all work is undertaken safely, efficiently and in accordance with relevant standards, specifications and workplace procedures.
Essential Requirements
• Certificate III in Plumbing (CPC32420) or equivalent relevant trade qualification.
• Current Plumbing Registration/Licence recognised in Western Australia.
• At least three years of relevant plumbing experience.
• Current Construction White Card.
• Current Australian Driver's Licence, with Manual preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in general plumbing, water supply, sanitary plumbing and drainage systems.
• Ability to interpret plumbing plans, drawings and technical specifications.
• Ability to safely use plumbing tools, equipment and machinery.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening.
• National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
• Working at Heights certification.
• Confined Space certification.
• Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Licence.
• First Aid Certificate.
• Gasfitting Licence or relevant gas installation experience.
• Backflow Prevention certification.
• HR Driver's Licence.
• Previous experience working on mining, government, commercial or remote construction projects.
• Experience with fire protection systems, mechanical services, roofing, rainwater goods and below-ground drainage.
This position is open to Australian citizens, permanent residents and candidates who are currently onshore in Australia with valid work rights.
