About the Role
Reporting to the relevant management/team leader, the Procurement Specialist will be responsible for analysing the company's procurement requirements, developing and implementing supplier and procurement strategies, evaluating supplier performance, analysing procurement and supplier information, and providing professional advice to management and operational teams.
The position will work closely with the Technical, Project, Production and Operations teams to ensure that procurement activities support project requirements, product quality, cost effectiveness and continuity of supply.
This is a professional role requiring strong analytical, supplier-management, information-management and organisational capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Analysing procurement requirements across kitchen design, manufacturing, project delivery and installation operations.
• Researching and evaluating existing and prospective suppliers based on factors including product quality, pricing, production capability, reliability, lead times and delivery performance.
• Developing and implementing procurement and supplier-management strategies that support the company's operational and project requirements.
• Collecting, organising and analysing supplier, product, pricing, procurement and operational information to support management decision-making.
• Conducting comparative analysis of supplier quotations, procurement costs, product specifications and supply arrangements and preparing recommendations for management.
• Developing and maintaining structured supplier information, evaluation and performance-monitoring systems.
• Monitoring supplier performance against agreed quality, cost, service and delivery requirements and identifying areas requiring improvement.
• Analysing procurement data and supplier performance information to identify supply risks, cost trends, operational issues and opportunities for improvement.
• Providing professional advice to management regarding supplier selection, sourcing strategies, procurement methods and supplier-management practices.
• Assisting in the development and review of procurement policies, procedures, supplier assessment criteria and organisational methods.
• Coordinating procurement and supplier information between the Technical, Production, Project Management, Operations and other relevant teams.
• Liaising with suppliers regarding product specifications, availability, lead times, pricing, quality requirements and supply arrangements.
• Identifying alternative suppliers and sourcing options where necessary to reduce supply risk and improve continuity of supply.
• Preparing procurement reports, supplier assessments, comparative analyses and recommendations for management.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date supplier, procurement and product information within the company's information systems.
• Identifying opportunities to improve procurement processes, supplier performance, cost effectiveness and organisational efficiency.
• Supporting management in the implementation of improved procurement and supplier-management systems and procedures.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:
• A relevant Bachelor degree or higher qualification in business, management, commerce, supply chain, procurement or a related discipline.
• Relevant professional experience in procurement, supplier management, sourcing, supplier analysis or a closely related business function.
• Demonstrated experience in analysing and evaluating suppliers, quotations, pricing and procurement information.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience developing or implementing supplier-management and procurement processes.
• Strong ability to organise, analyse and interpret business and supplier information.
• Good understanding of commercial procurement principles and supplier performance management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prepare professional reports, analyses and recommendations for management.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively across technical, production, project and operational teams.
• Competency with Microsoft Office and relevant business, procurement or information-management systems.
Experience within kitchen manufacturing, cabinetry, construction, building products, manufacturing or project-based environments would be highly regarded.
