Financial Accountant

Godfrey Hirst Australia Pty Ltd is a leading manufacturer and supplier of residential and commercial flooring products across Australia and New Zealand. With more than 160 years of local manufacturing experience, the company supplies carpet, hybrid, timber, laminate and vinyl flooring.

Salary offered AUD: 110,000.00 per year plus superannuation

Main Responsibilities

• Process journals and assist with month-end accounting, financial reports and management accounts.

• Complete general ledger, payroll, intercompany and balance sheet reconciliations.

• Assist with BAS, FBT, payroll tax and other taxation compliance obligations.

• Support year-end accounting, statutory reporting and internal and external audits.

• Assist with annual budgets, company tax returns and finance-related projects.

• Support inventory reporting, stocktakes and monthly factory results.

• Review financial results, investigate variances and assist departmental managers with accounting matters.

• Maintain accurate financial records and comply with relevant legislation, company policies and reporting requirements.

• Provide general accounting support to Godfrey Hirst and its subsidiaries.

Skills and Experience Required for the Role

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, commerce or a related discipline.

• A minimum of three years of relevant full-time work experience in financial accounting or a closely related role.

• CPA or CA qualification, or progress towards either qualification, will be highly regarded.

• Experience with month-end processing, financial reporting and account reconciliations.

• Knowledge of GST, BAS, FBT, payroll tax and other Australian compliance requirements.

• Experience within a manufacturing environment and an understanding of inventory or cost accounting will be advantageous.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
