Our client, Anand Yogi Pty Ltd operates an Oporto restaurant serving customers with Oporto's range of flame-grilled chicken, burgers, wraps, sides, beverages and other quick-service menu items. Oporto is an established Australian restaurant brand that operates through independently owned franchise stores and places strong emphasis on food quality, customer experience, people development and consistent operating standards.
Oporto Rutherford is seeking a motivated and experienced Retail Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Quick-service restaurant and lead the team in delivering efficient service, quality food and a positive customer experience.
This is a hands-on management position responsible for coordinating operations, supervising and developing employees, maintaining food safety and workplace health and safety standards, monitoring stock and labour requirements, managing customer service and supporting the achievement of sales and operational targets.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced quick-service environment and ensure that the restaurant operates efficiently while maintaining Oporto brand, product, service and cleanliness standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise and coordinate daily restaurant operations to ensure efficient service, product quality and achievement of business objectives.
- Lead, supervise and support restaurant staff, including recruiting, onboarding, training, allocating duties, rostering and monitoring employee performance.
- Organise staff coverage according to anticipated customer demand and operational requirements, including busy trading periods, weekends and public holidays.
- Ensure compliance with applicable food safety, hygiene, workplace health and safety and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and deal professionally with customer enquiries, feedback and complaints.
- Monitor daily sales, transaction activity and restaurant performance and implement practical measures to improve sales, service efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Implement Oporto promotional activities, campaigns, product launches and customer loyalty initiatives in accordance with applicable brand requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate ordering and replenishment of food ingredients, beverages, packaging, cleaning products and other restaurant supplies.
- Inspect incoming stock and ensure products are stored appropriately and stock rotation procedures are followed.
- Monitor restaurant operating costs and identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce avoidable wastage and costs.
- Communicate operational requirements, performance expectations and business procedures to employees and provide ongoing guidance and support.
- Coach and develop employees to improve product knowledge, customer service, food handling practices and overall work performance.
- Address routine employee performance, attendance and operational issues in accordance with business policies and management direction.
- Assist the business owner/franchisee with operational planning, performance reviews and implementation of approved improvements.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Minimum Diploma in Retail Management, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Restaurant Management or a related field.
- At least one year of relevant experience in a restaurant, quick-service restaurant, food retail or similar customer-facing environment.
- Demonstrated experience with staff rostering, training, stock control, customer service and day-to-day operational coordination.
Skills Required
- Strong leadership and people-management skills, with the ability to supervise and motivate a diverse team.
- Good knowledge of inventory, stock rotation, wastage and cost-control practices.
- Ability to monitor sales and operational performance and implement practical improvements.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities during busy trading periods.
- Ability to coach, train and develop employees and maintain a positive team environment.
- Good computer literacy and ability to use point-of-sale, rostering, inventory and other restaurant management systems.
