Bakers and Pastrycooks — JA Baking Pty Ltd t/a Balmain Bread

Our client, JA Baking Pty Ltd, is seeking dedicated and experienced Bakers and Pastrycooks to join the team at Balmain Bread — a high-performing artisan bakery in Balmain, NSW 2041, committed to certified organic ingredients, sustainable traceability and premium craftsmanship.

This is a full-time opportunity offering a competitive salary of AUD 75,000 to AUD 85,000 per annum, plus superannuation, with the final package negotiable based on experience and skill level.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Mixing, preparing, weighing and measuring ingredients for the preparation of goods.

- Decorating pastries using different icings, toppings, etc., to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting.

- Glazing buns and pastries, and decorating cakes with cream and icing

- Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, etc. and make appropriate orders within budget for management.

- Contributing ideas to the menu & having involvement in seasonal pastry menu development.

- Check the quality of materials and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.

- Comply with food hygiene and safety requirements.

- Keep a sanitised and orderly environment in the kitchen.

- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.

- Keeping accurate records.

- Operating a variety of kitchen equipment.

- Identify staffing needs and help recruit and train personnel

- Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment.

- Plan & prepare the production and schedule.

To be considered for this role, you should:

- Hold a Certificate III or higher in Baking, Patisserie or a related field, or have at least 3 years' relevant experience as a qualified Baker or Pastrycook.

- Be available to work weekends and split shifts as required.

- Be willing to relocate for the role if currently interstate or in another city.

- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and consistency in a high-volume artisan production environment.

- Work effectively within a team, with excellent communication skills.
