About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking 15 reliable and hardworking Full-Time Sawmill Labourers to join the workforce of a well-established timber operation located in the Clarence Valley region of NSW.
These are full-time positions offering 38 hours per week, with ongoing employment opportunities for suitable candidates.
The roles are suited to people who enjoy practical, hands-on work and are comfortable working in a busy production and sawmill environment.
Previous experience within the timber, sawmill, manufacturing, production or similar industries would be advantageous; however, training will be provided to suitable applicants.
Key Responsibilities
Duties may include:
Stacking, racking, sorting and handling timber products
Feeding and removing timber from production lines
Assisting with timber grading and quality checks
General sawmill and production labouring
Assisting machine operators as required
Manual handling of timber and other materials
Maintaining clean and organised work areas
Following workplace health and safety procedures
Correct use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Following instructions from supervisors and production leaders
Other general duties associated with sawmill operations
Hours of Work
Successful applicants will be employed on a full-time basis for 38 ordinary hours per week.
The usual roster will be:
Monday to Friday
Commencement time: 6:00am
Additional hours or overtime may be available depending on operational requirements and will be paid in accordance with the applicable industrial instrument.
Roster arrangements may vary according to production requirements.
About You
To be successful in these roles, applicants should:
Be reliable and committed to regular attendance
Be willing and able to work full-time hours
Have a positive attitude and strong work ethic
Be comfortable performing repetitive and physically demanding tasks
Be able to safely undertake regular lifting, bending, standing and manual handling
Be able to work effectively as part of a team
Be willing to follow workplace health and safety procedures and instructions
Be available to commence employment in January 2027
Previous experience in sawmill, timber, manufacturing, production, warehousing or other labour-intensive environments is desirable but not essential.
A current driver's licence and reliable transport are highly desirable due to the location and limited public transport options.
A current forklift licence would also be advantageous but is not essential.
Pay and Employment Conditions
Employment will be on a full-time basis for 38 hours per week.
Pay and employment conditions will be provided in accordance with the Timber Industry Award 2020 (MA000071) and the applicable classification, including:
Applicable ordinary hourly rate
Superannuation
Annual leave
Personal/carer's leave
Public holiday entitlements
Overtime and penalty rates where applicable
Other applicable Award and National Employment Standards entitlements
Work Environment
The positions are based within an operational sawmill environment.
Applicants should be comfortable working in an environment that may involve:
Noise and dust
Timber processing machinery
Repetitive manual tasks
Standing for extended periods
Regular lifting, bending and handling of timber
Working around mobile plant and production equipment
Mandatory PPE and strict workplace safety procedures
Successful applicants will receive workplace induction, training and ongoing supervision.
Pre-Employment Requirements
Successful applicants will be required to:
Complete a pre-employment medical assessment appropriate to the inherent requirements of the role
Complete drug and alcohol screening
Participate in workplace induction and safety training
Comply with workplace health and safety requirements and PPE procedures
