The Role

As a Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will support engineers and maintenance teams in improving the reliability, efficiency and longevity of our highly automated poultry and egg production machinery and equipment through continued testing, inspection, design, installation, and maintenance.

You will be responsible for ensuring all of our egg production machinery and equipment and related infrastructure are maintained to a standard that enables the safe, reliable and efficient use in day-to-day operations. You will also assist in enhancing and refining our automated systems and processes to improve production workflow whilst ensuring compliance with food safety, biosecurity and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the completion of regular machinery and equipment inspections.

• Support daily production targets through proactive preventative maintenance.

• Conduct fault finding and troubleshooting of all mechanical machinery and equipment and undertaking corrective actions and repairs as required.

• Identify and analyse automated mechanical system bottlenecks.

• Assist engineers in implementing design changes to improve production workflow.

• Assemble, install new and modified mechanical assemblies, components and systems to improve automated mechanical systems.

• Collect and analyse operational data, prepare reports, and recommend improvements to efficiency and reliability.

• Record maintenance work completed and actions performed and log accurate functional information including machine condition, performance, breakdown frequency, duration, costs, spares used etc.

• Select appropriate tools, materials, and methods for maintenance and installation tasks.

• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, production and third party contractors to deliver operational and project goals.

Skills & Experience

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field;

• Three years of relevant experience or proven skills in these areas may be considered in lieu of qualifications

• Experience with hydraulics, conveyors, processing equipment, or farm machinery highly regarded.

• Ability to interpret designs, drawings, and specifications with strong technical accuracy.

• Knowledge of OHS, regulatory standards, and compliance practices in mechanical operations.

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, able to work independently and in a team.

Salary & Benefits

$79,000 – $85,000 per year, plus superannuation.
