About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking 15 reliable and motivated Foliage Harvesters / Horticultural Labourers for a 9-month employment opportunity within the Sunshine Coast region.
These are hands-on horticultural positions involving the harvesting, handling, processing and packing of foliage and plant products.
Previous horticultural, farming, nursery, harvesting or production experience would be advantageous; however, previous experience is not essential, as training and workplace induction will be provided.
Key Duties
Duties may include:
Harvesting and cutting foliage
Selecting foliage suitable for harvesting
Handling and transporting harvested foliage
Sorting, grading and processing foliage
Bunching, packing and preparing products for dispatch
General horticultural duties
Plant and crop maintenance activities
Weeding and general work area maintenance
Cleaning and maintaining work areas
Safely using basic hand tools and equipment
Following workplace health and safety procedures
Other general duties as required
Hours of Work
Successful applicants will be offered a minimum of 30 hours per week.
Roster arrangements may vary depending on harvesting requirements, weather conditions and operational needs. Early morning starts and weekend work may be required.
Additional hours may be available depending on operational requirements.
Pay & Conditions
Starting rate: $32.18 per hour + superannuation.
Employment conditions will be provided in accordance with the Horticulture Award 2020 (MA000028) and applicable Australian workplace laws.
The appropriate Award classification and rate will apply according to the duties performed and the employee's classification.
Applicable overtime, penalty rates and allowances will be paid in accordance with the Award.
About You
We are looking for applicants who:
Are reliable and punctual
Have a positive attitude and strong work ethic
Are willing to undertake hands-on horticultural work
Can work effectively as part of a team
Are comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Can safely undertake repetitive and physical tasks
Can follow workplace health and safety procedures
Are available for the 9-month employment period
Previous horticultural, agricultural, nursery, harvesting, production or packing experience is desirable but not essential.
A current driver's licence is desirable but not essential.
Work Environment
The work may involve:
Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Standing and walking for extended periods
Regular bending, reaching and repetitive movements
Lifting and carrying foliage and other materials
Working around plants and vegetation
Using basic harvesting tools and equipment
Working in warm, humid or wet conditions
Wearing required PPE
Applicants must be able to safely perform the inherent requirements of the position.
Pre-Employment Requirements
Successful applicants may be required to complete a pre-employment medical assessment relevant to the inherent requirements of the position and drug and alcohol screening.
All successful applicants will participate in workplace induction and safety training.
