ABOUT THE POSITION
Marquee Monkeys is seeking an experienced Equipment Hire Manager to join our team in Clayton South
The successful candidate will be responsible for organising, managing and controlling the day-to-day operations of the equipment hire business, ensuring the efficient allocation, availability and utilisation of equipment while maintaining high standards of customer service, safety and operational performance.
The role requires strong operational, commercial and organisational skills, together with the ability to coordinate customers, employees, suppliers and equipment requirements in a fast-paced hire environment.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The main duties of the position include:
Organising, directing and controlling the day-to-day operations of the equipment hire business.
Managing customer enquiries, hire bookings, quotations, contracts and equipment hire arrangements. Coordinating the allocation, dispatch and return of equipment to ensure customer requirements and project timelines are met.
Monitoring equipment availability, utilisation and hire schedules to maximise operational efficiency.
Coordinating equipment inspections, servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is safe, reliable and available for hire.
Liaising with customers to determine equipment requirements and recommend appropriate hire solutions.
Establishing and maintaining service standards and procedures to ensure a high level of customer service.
Monitoring hire rates, operational costs, revenue and business performance and assisting with pricing and commercial decisions.
Managing stock, equipment records and associated operational documentation and ensuring records are accurate and current.
Coordinating with suppliers, service providers and contractors regarding equipment, repairs, parts and other operational requirements.
Supervising and coordinating staff involved in hire operations, customer service, equipment preparation and dispatch.
Providing training, guidance and operational support to employees as required. Managing customer complaints, operational issues and equipment-related matters in a professional and timely manner.
Ensuring equipment hire activities comply with company policies, workplace health and safety requirements and relevant operational procedures. Supporting management with business planning, reporting, equipment requirements and strategies to improve operational efficiency and customer service.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
A relevant qualification in business management, operations management, equipment hire management or a related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in equipment hire, rental operations, plant and equipment, construction equipment or a closely related industry.
Demonstrated experience managing equipment hire or rental operations.
Strong understanding of equipment allocation, bookings, scheduling, dispatch and return processes. Experience coordinating equipment servicing, maintenance and repair requirements.
Demonstrated ability to manage customer relationships, quotations and hire agreements.
Strong leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Sound commercial awareness and the ability to monitor operational costs and business performance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong computer and administrative skills, including experience using hire management, CRM, scheduling or related business systems.
A strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements relevant to equipment hire operations
Required Licences:
Forklift license
Truck license - MR
Weekend availability is desired but is not essential - mainly a mid week business there are some requirements for weekend work
