Lyell McEwin Health Service is one of South Australia's busiest acute care facilities, serving a rapidly growing northern Adelaide community. As Nurse Manager - Critical Care, you'll bring clinical leadership to a high-acuity environment where experienced nurses make decisions that matter every day.

Your Role in Critical Care

Reporting to senior nursing leadership within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN), you will oversee the day-to-day operational and clinical management of the Critical Care unit at Lyell McEwin Health Service. This is a full-time, short-term contract through to 8 October 2027.

Provide visible, hands-on clinical leadership and governance across the Critical Care unit

Lead, support, and develop nursing staff to deliver safe, high-quality patient-centred care

Drive performance against accreditation standards, NALHN policies, and SA Health frameworks

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient flow and outcomes in a complex acute setting

What You'll Bring

Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)

Substantial critical care clinical experience, with demonstrated competence in an ICU or high-dependency setting

Proven experience in nursing management or team leadership, including roster and resource management

Strong understanding of SA Health or equivalent state public health governance and compliance requirements

Effective communication and conflict-resolution skills in a multidisciplinary environment

Commitment to continuous quality improvement and staff professional development

To be eligible for this position, you must be Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse or Nurse-Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services:

NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home-based services across multiple sites in Adelaide's north and north-eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.

Lyell McEwin Hospital - the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.

Modbury Hospital - a general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.

Mental Health Services - adult and older persons mental health services and statewide forensic mental health services, across hospital and community settings.

Watto Purrunna Aboriginal Primary Health Care Services - provides culturally responsive primary healthcare services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in-hospital and across four community sites.

Primary Health Care Services - including GP Plus sites at Elizabeth, Modbury and Gilles Plains.
