We are seeking 10 reliable and hardworking Vegetable Farm Workers for a 9-month casual assignment with an established agricultural operation based in the Cowra region of NSW.
These roles offer consistent seasonal employment within a busy vegetable growing and harvesting operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who enjoy practical, hands-on work and are comfortable working in an outdoor agricultural environment.
About the Role
Casual positions – 9-month assignment
Commencing February 2027
Minimum 30 hours per week
Additional hours may be available during peak periods
Work may include weekdays and weekends depending on seasonal requirements
Site induction and training provided
Consistent work throughout the assignment, subject to seasonal and operational requirements
You will form part of a farm team assisting with vegetable production, crop maintenance, harvesting, picking, sorting and general farm duties.
Key Duties
Planting and maintaining vegetable crops
Picking and harvesting vegetables
Sorting, grading and packing produce
Preparing harvested produce for packing or distribution
Crop maintenance and general farm duties
Manual handling of produce, crates and farming materials
Cleaning and maintaining work areas
Following farm hygiene and biosecurity procedures
Following supervisor instructions and WHS procedures
To Be Successful You Will Need
Strong work ethic and reliability
Ability to perform repetitive manual tasks
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to stand, bend, lift and carry for extended periods
Commitment to rostered hours
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Ability to follow workplace health, safety, hygiene and biosecurity procedures
Previous vegetable farming, horticulture, harvesting, picking or packing experience is advantageous but not essential
Hours of Work, Pay & Conditions
Hours of Work
Workers will be rostered according to seasonal and operational requirements.
Minimum Weekly Hours: 30 hours per week
Roster: May include Monday to Sunday depending on crop and harvest requirements
Daily Hours: Will vary according to operational requirements
Start Times: May include early morning starts
Additional Hours: May be required during peak planting and harvesting periods and will be paid in accordance with the applicable modern award.
Example Weekly Structure (30 Hours)
Monday: 6 hours
Tuesday: 6 hours
Wednesday: 6 hours
Thursday: 6 hours
Friday: 6 hours
Total: 30 hours
Actual rostered hours may vary due to crop requirements, weather conditions, harvest volumes and other operational requirements. Any additional hours, overtime or penalty rates will be applied in accordance with the applicable Award.
Pay & Conditions
Employment conditions are governed by the Horticulture Award 2020 (MA000028).
Workers will receive:
Casual hourly rate from $32.18 per hour, including casual loading, or the applicable Award rate at commencement
Minimum 30 hours per week
Casual loading
Overtime and penalty rates where applicable
Applicable allowances
Superannuation contributions
Payslips and compliant time records
No unlawful or undisclosed deductions
The applicable rate will be determined by the employee's Award classification and the minimum Award rates in effect at the time of employment.
Work Environment
This role is performed in a commercial vegetable farming environment and may involve:
Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Exposure to sun, heat, cold, wind, rain, dust and soil
Repetitive picking, harvesting and manual handling
Frequent bending, reaching and standing
Lifting and carrying produce, crates and farming materials
Walking and standing for extended periods
Working around farm machinery and equipment
Working on uneven or agricultural terrain
Strict adherence to farm hygiene, biosecurity, PPE and safety procedures
Comprehensive site induction and supervisor support will be provided.
Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must:
Have the legal right to work in Australia
Be physically capable of performing the inherent requirements of the position
Be able to undertake repetitive manual handling duties
Be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Be reliable and available for rostered shifts
Be willing to work early starts and weekends when operationally required
Be committed to the full 9-month assignment
Follow all workplace health and safety requirements
Follow farm hygiene and biosecurity procedures
Be willing to complete a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening if required
Previous horticulture or agricultural experience is desirable but not essential, as training and site induction will be provided.
10 positions are available with an anticipated commencement in February 2027.
