About Us:

MIPEC Marine Consultants & Surveyors is a long established firm with head office based in Gladstone, Queensland. MIPEC MCS also services ports in New South Wales, Brisbane and Victoria.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Marine Transport Professional to join our team of Marine Professionals based in NSW to carry out the following job duties.

The Role:

• Plan, control and coordinate the operational and maintenance requirements of ships and equipment onboard

• Operating marine equipment and doing routine maintenance on ship's systems including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, steam generating, and fire prevention and control systems

• Supervising shipping operations to ensure the safe and efficient loading and transportation

• Maintaining compliance with industry regulations pertaining to safety at sea and protection of the marine environment

• Supervising and directing the activities of the deck crew for navigational support tasks, berthing and unberthing, maintenance, cleaning and painting of superstructures, and repair and replacement of defective deck gear and equipment

• Navigating a ship by supervising the ship's course and speed according to planned passage routes and follow safety procedures as applicable

• Examining and approving design plans of hulls and equipment when necessary

• Conducting periodic surveys throughout a ship's life to ensure standards are maintained – organise repair schedules where required

About You:

• Relevant Australian qualification or overseas equivalent

• 2-3 years relevant work experience, preferably with bulk carriers

• Previous experience in job duties mentioned, on bulk carriers

• Fluency in English

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office software

• Be able to pass Medical/Drug and alcohol test (no restrictions)

• Physically able to board a vessel from a boat using a pilot ladder

• Ability to work in a roster, including evenings, nights and public holidays

• Obtain an Australian driver licence
