About the Position:

The Retail Manager (General) plays a key role in overseeing the day-to-day running of the shop, ensuring smooth operations, high standards of customer service and effective team coordination so that North Carlton Quality Meats continues to deliver quality products and a positive experience for both walk-in and wholesale clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily retail operations including opening and closing procedures, sales floor presentation and service standards.

• Lead, roster and support shop staff to maintain efficient workflow and consistent customer service.

• Manage inventory levels, stock rotation, ordering and supplier coordination to minimise waste and ensure product availability.

• Handle customer enquiries, resolve issues and promote product knowledge to support sales.

• Monitor sales performance, implement basic merchandising and contribute to achieving revenue targets.

• Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety, and hygiene standards.

• Assist with cash handling, end-of-day reconciliation and basic reporting.

• Support wholesale and special-order processes as required.

Requirements:

• Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.

• Diploma of Leadership and Management (or equivalent).

• Minimum 1 year relevant experience.

• Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a small team.

• Sound organisational, problem-solving and time-management abilities.

• Knowledge of retail operations, inventory control and food safety practices.

• Ability to work flexibly within retail trading hours and maintain high standards of presentation and professionalism.
