Electrician (General)

About the Role

MECS Group Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Electrician (General) to join our team in Perth, Western Australia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, wiring, and control systems across a range of projects.

Key Responsibilities

Install, test, connect and commission electrical equipment, wiring and control systems.

Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.

Determine appropriate installation methods and sequences of operation.

Measure and lay out installation reference points.

Select, cut, terminate, and connect electrical wiring and cables.

Install and connect electrical switchboards and associated equipment.

Connect electrical systems to power supplies.

Conduct electrical testing, including continuity and fault-finding tests.

Use electrical and electronic test instruments to diagnose faults.

Identify, repair, and replace faulty wiring, components, and defective electrical equipment.

Perform preventative and corrective electrical maintenance.

Modify and maintain existing electrical installations and control systems.

Ensure all electrical work is completed safely and in accordance with applicable Australian standards, regulations and workplace procedures.

Maintain accurate records of electrical work, testing, and maintenance activities.

Work collaboratively with other trades, supervisors, and project personnel.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will have:

Relevant electrical trade qualifications.

Relevant experience working as an Electrician (General).

Strong knowledge of electrical installation, testing, fault finding, and maintenance.

Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.

Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.

Strong understanding of electrical safety requirements and Australian standards.

Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong communication and organisational skills.

Australian electrical licensing/registration, or eligibility to obtain the relevant Australian licence where applicable.

Qualifications

Relevant electrical trade qualification, such as an Australian Certificate III or equivalent qualification.

Relevant Australian electrical licence/registration is required for the position.

What We Offer

Full-time permanent employment.

Salary of AUD $85,000 - $95,000 per annum + superannuation, depending on experience and qualifications.
