Sheetmetal Trades Worker - HVAC

Mechpoint Pty Ltd (ABN 73 652 015 695) is a Queensland-based company, located in Gladestone, specialising in the commercial installation of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems. Committed to quality workmanship, workplace safety and reliable project delivery, we are seeking an experienced Sheetmetal Trades Worker to join our team and contribute to our ongoing commercial projects.

Responsibilities

Take site measurements and work from HVAC blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical specifications to accurately

prepare and fabricate sheetmetal ducting and associated components.

• Select, measure, and mark out sheetmetal components according to job specifications and ensure components align with the structural framework and installation layout.

• Prepare, fabricate, and assemble sheetmetal duct components using appropriate sheet metal forming machinery and

tools to cut, bend, shape, and finish materials to required tolerances.

• Join duct sections and sheetmetal components using appropriate mechanical

• Fixings and sealing compounds to ensure integrity of the ductwork and minimise air leakage.

• Liaise with project managers, site supervisors, and other trades (such as Mechanical Engineers and HVAC technicians) to coordinate ducting

fabrication and installation in accordance with construction plans and timelines.

• Install and assemble sheetmetal duct components on residential and commercial sites when required, ensuring the

work is completed in accordance with project specifications and standard construction practices.

• Conduct repairs or on-site modifications to prefabricated sheetmetal components as necessary to ensure correct fit and function.

• Follow Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) practices at all times and ensure all fabrication and installation work is completed in accordance with relevant building codes and sheetmetal trade standards.

Qualifications & experience

• Relevant qualification or equivalent industry experience

• Technical knowledge of sheetmetal shaping and installation

• Current valid Australian driver's license

• Current White Card

• Attention to detail with a proactive approach to problem-solving

• Excellent communication and customer service skills

• Focus on delivering high-quality work within budget and on time

• Able to work independently and as part of a team

Type: Full-time & Permanent

Salary: Minimum AUD$80,000 plus superannuation

Work Eligibility: Permitted to work in Australia unrestricted
