This is a full-time role, 38 hours per week, commencing at 6:30am Monday to Friday.

At Little Wishes, a vibrant, 119-place family-owned centre in the heart of Carina, open Monday to Friday offering education and care for children aged from nursery to 6 years.

As our Nutritional Leader and Cook you are integral to our team and our educational and care service. The early years provides a foundational time to create healthy eating habits.

Little Wishes take pride in providing nutritious, healthy and freshly made meals every day at our service, which carefully account for any allergies, medical, lifestyle or religious beliefs. Ensuring our kitchen and eating areas are kept clean, presented neat and tidy is a priority and working together to do so makes for a positive day. Ensuring meals are available for the children at the times needed is necessary to ensure our children are nutritionally fueled to assist with maintaining daily routines.

You will be responsible for our full commercial kitchen and the day-to-day compliance, including food ordering, food receipt, food safety program, annual audit and council Food License.

You will love hygienic environments and practices and maintain strict controls around food safety and adhere to workplace health and safety.

You will be expected to take responsibility for groceries ordering and maintaining financial budgets for the kitchen. You will take pride in ensuring all record keeping is completed on time and to be ready for any regulatory review or inspection.

You will be supported by our co-owner with a full induction and handover which will include our developed menus and daily planning. You will need to be attentive at each mealtime, to individual children’s allergy, dietary, medical and intolerance requirements.

Day to day you will report to our Service Director and work hand in hand with our incredible team of caring educators and teachers.

Key Expectations, Skills, and Experience: As a successful applicant, you must:

• Hold a Food Supervisors Certificate

• Hold an equivalent to a Certificate IV Kitchen Management, Diploma of Hospitality Management or equivalent

• Have a minimum of three years’ continuous experience working full time in a commercial kitchen

• Be prepared to work full-time 38 hours per week, commencing at our opening time of 6:30am Monday to Friday, 5 days per week.

• Possess a current valid Working with Children Blue Card and have no prior child safety issues

• Possess full working rights

• Hold current CPR, First Aid / Anaphylaxis, Safe Sleep, Child Safety Training

• Pass the Negative Search / Prohibited Persons search and hold validated qualifications

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of healthy eating and cooking

• Be a dedicated team player with exceptional oral and written communication skills

• Bring fun, laughter, and joy to yours and the children's day

Annual salary: AUD $58,193.20 plus superannuation, based on 38 hours per week.

Little Wishes ELC Carina are currently approved for the Worker Retention Grant. This is in addition to the Award.
