Pastry Chef

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Pastry Chef to join our busy catering unit at Coolangatta Airport on a full-time basis.

What does a typical day look like?

As a Pastry Chef, you will be accountable for the preparation of a wide range of cakes, pastries and desserts for business and economy class of various airlines. This will also involve supervising other kitchen staff including Catering Attendants and labour hire team members.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

- Preparation of cakes, pastries and desserts for business and economy class for various airlines.

- Stock control & minimizing food wastage.

- Cleaning & maintaining a hygienic work environment at all times.

- Strictly following menu specifications as well as food safety / HACCP, WHS & QSAI policies.

- Providing decisive leadership and on the job training to lower level staff members

- Executing and supervising food production, packing & tray-set activities

- Preparing various menu items to specifications provided

What do you need to be successful in securing this role?

- Demonstrated success in a similar role with a minimum of 5 years experience

- Must hold relevant Pastry Chef qualification

- Advanced knowledge of HACCP / QSAI / Food Safety and OHS

- Prior experience with airline catering (highly regarded) and service oriented

- Prior experience working in a team environment with demonstrated leadership skills

- Strong communication and organisational skills

- Ability to work across a 7-day rotating roster

- As you will be working in the Aviation Services industry, you will be required to obtain a clear National Police Check.
